Remembering Tede Matthews was a literary event held on June 6, 2013, to honor the life and legacy of the beloved Bay Area poet, performer, and activist. People who knew Tede, including a number of writers who were part of the Bay Area queer radical poetry scene of the 1980s and 1990s, offered readings and recollections. The event also included rare archival footage and newly commissioned work by younger queer artists who are carrying forward Tede's art and politics.

The event was part of Queer Are You Going, Queer Have You Been, a curatorial project dedicated to the creation of events and publications that explore the life and art of vital but lesser-known figures from the queer past. The project launched in 2013 with events around Matthews and pioneering lesbian poet Elsa Gidlow.

Remembering Tede Matthews was made possible by generous support from the Queer Cultural Center, the San Francisco Arts Commission, Rainbow Grocery Cooperative, and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. The event was co-sponsored by the GLBT Historical Society and Modern Times Bookstore.
